Our client is seeking an experienced Vice President of Power Systems to build and lead the engineering organization responsible for its core physical energy technologies. The company develops battery energy storage systems, energy storage power plants, EV charging infrastructure, electricity services, and next-generation energy solutions. Its approach integrates batteries, power conversion systems, charging infrastructure, control systems, software, energy markets, and customer applications to unlock the full value of energy infrastructure. The Engineering & Research Division is an international organization of approximately 60 engineers developing products from concept through production and field operation. This is a unique opportunity to shape the technical direction and organizational foundation of a growing energy technology business, taking advanced technologies from early concepts through validation, production, and real-world operation.

  • Define the technology strategy and product roadmap for battery systems, power conversion, charging, and related electrical technologies

  • Build and lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across battery systems, power electronics, electrical engineering, controls, testing, and system integration

  • Establish clear system and component architectures spanning batteries, BMS, converters, PCS, chargers, protection systems, and embedded controls

  • Lead end-to-end product development from requirements definition and concept design through prototyping, validation, production handover, and field improvement

  • Establish and strengthen engineering practices related to electrical safety, reliability, protection, high-voltage validation, and root-cause analysis

  • Make engineering and product decisions that balance performance, cost, manufacturability, supplier capabilities, delivery timelines, maintainability, and customer value

  • Connect Advanced Engineering activities with Series Development to translate emerging technologies into production-ready products

  • Work closely with Software Systems, Product, Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement, Technical Support, and commercial teams

  • Develop engineering leaders and build an organization capable of supporting future products and international expansion

  • Drive continuous improvement based on field data, product performance, customer requirements, and lessons learned from development and production

  • 10+ years of professional experience in battery systems, power converters, inverters, power electronics, charging systems, electrification, energy storage, or related fields

  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams of approximately 10–20 people or more

  • Strong understanding of how components and complex physical products move from system architecture and development through validation and series production

  • Experience making decisions involving safety, reliability, cost, quality, manufacturing, suppliers, and delivery schedules

  • Strong product and business judgment, with the ability to distinguish technically interesting solutions from the right solutions for customers and the business

  • Experience leading end-to-end product development and collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and commercial functions

  • Professional-level English and Japanese communication skills

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:

    • Automotive electrification

    • Automotive battery development

    • Battery converter development

    • Automotive converter development

    • EV charging systems

    • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

    • Heavy electrical equipment

  • Experience connecting Advanced Engineering with Series Development or production engineering

  • Experience working in international engineering organizations or with global development teams
